Gold

What is gold? Is it the substance used to make the Olympic gold medals? Or is it when you look out the window and see the sky and houses with trees surrounding them, and know that life is not a dream but real life. With people who care and pass kindness on. Is it knowing that one seed can grow into the tallest tree in the world in such little time. Life goes by in the blink of an eye. One day we're 7 years old, playing basketball with our friends, and the next we're 20, 2 years away from finishing college. That short span of time that we live in is gold. We have to learn to cherish every single moment that we get to enjoy in this world. Because pretty soon, we won't have this happiness anymore. And I'm not saying that to be negative. I'm saying this as a reminder to always enjoy every moment, every day, every month, every year of your life. No matter how bad or negative it might be on you. Everything seems like such a dream, but having that option to look out of our windows and do great things, is not a dream. Nothing is just a dream in life. Because after you wake up we are transported into a realm where we can make dreams come true. We can make dreams reality. And reality is gold.. Most of the time:)
But not all realities are gold. Some people are out in the world with nothing to eat, no shelter, no education, and no love. But they get through it. We all can get through it. Just like August said in the wonderful, amazing book named "Wonder" We all deserve a standing ovation. For getting through our opponent in our boxing ring, life, yes we should get a standing ovation, August, yes we should. It takes tremendous amounts of courage to get through life. And everyone has done it. From the man who lives underneath a bridge, to a low income family, to a billionaire, we all have misfortune. Face it. Life treats us like crap. But we all need to pick ourselves up and go to the places we need to be, whether it's begging for money on the side of the road or at a high level business meeting. Sure, sometimes we get depressed, but we have to realize that it doesn't matter. In a few years, we'll be in a completely different state. A completely different emotion. And I believe that should be happiness. And happiness it Gold. With a capital G.

Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem. The famous two words first uttered by a Roman poet, Horace in his work Odes, meaning to seize the day. However a more accurate definition would be to enjoy the day, pluck the day when it is ripe.
I remember first finding this phrase a few years ago at the end of sixth grade, before I moved down South, half way across the country. I forgot the phrase for quite a few months. Then I found it again while looking for titles for stories. Carpe Diem. Seize the day.
I remember looking at the phrase and its' meaning and wondering what exactly does seize mean.
It obviously doesn't mean to have a seizure. Okay, that was really stupid of me.
So I literally looked up the word seize.

seize
sēz/
verb
  1. 1.
take hold of suddenly and forcibly.
"she jumped up and seized his arm"
synonyms:grabgraspsnatch, take hold of, get one's hands on; More
  2. 2.
(of a machine with moving parts or a moving part in a machine) become stuck or jammed.
"the engine seized up after only three weeks"

Who forcibly grabs a day? Okay that's literal thinking. Going deeper below the surface, Carpe Diem means to grab the day that you want to have. Seize that one perfect day; that one perfect moment.
Going back to the official definition of Carpe Diem, pluck the day when it is ripe, I wonder how do we exactly know when the day is ripe.
Well, when the day is ripe, we just know. It's just like how we know that we have found 'the one.' It's that intense feeling we get of excitement. The feeling that we get when we just know that everything is perfect. Don't you just want to hit the save button?
Life isn't perfect all the time. But sometimes we get those amazing moments that we need to learn to cherish and save in our hearts forever.

Intro to this blog

Hi guys.
So I wanted to try this again. Since in my first blog, I kind of stop posting, I wanted to do something that was more interesting so that it would pull me to keep blogging.

As you guys saw, Carpe Diem is the title of this blog. Carpe Diem means seize the day.
Basically this blog will be about just life things. So life style changes, procrastination, anything that basically comes to my mind and is about life. I will be blogging weekly. If I do miss a week, that will probably be because of school.  I do have a lot of band events coming up so yeah.

Uh, yeah that's about it. I hope you guys enjoy this blog.

Keep calm and Carpe Diem!
Lea
